Natural Air Purifiers…Lets fight air pollution in green way
As the winter is setting in and we all are getting in festival moods, we have also started to feel the pinch of polluted air, more severe for friends in North India. Do we all are not wanting to get out of choked air to celebrate the Festivals with lot of joy and happiness, but the choices are not available all the time due to various exigencies, so should we accept this noise and air pollution as our fate. Not trying should not be our choice. To reduce such pollution, on individual efforts, we all can add some plants in our balcony which shower on us the uncountable benefits as natural air purifier plants but also the rejuvenating aura they form around us.
An interesting project ” NASA Clean Air Study” to research ways to clean the air in space stations was done by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in association with the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA). Its results suggested that, in addition to absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen through photosynthesis, certain common indoor plants may also provide a natural way of removing volatile organic pollutants (benzene, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene were tested).
The study further suggested that efficient air cleaning is accomplished with at least one plant per 100 square feet (9.3 m2) of space, but was conducted under sealed space station conditions and research conducted since has shown mixed results in the home or office.
So based our own experience, the details of some green natural air purifier plants (with their common name) are being sharing, which you would love to grow in your balconies.
