Everything good found in ginger

Ginger is a well known spice from our Indian kitchen. It is used in very small quantities but its presence is very necessary at least in our morning tea.

Ginger (Adarak) belongs to the same family of turmeric and cardamom, which is zingiberaceaeIt’s a rhizome, a thick underground stem that sprouts roots and shoots.

Its uses

1. Ginger is commonly used for many types of nausea and vomiting like pregnancy nausea and surgical nausea.

2. Ginger is anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant in nature. Consumption of ginger may help to decrease muscle soreness, inflammation and relieve osteoarthritis pain.

3. Ginger works by inhibiting serotonin receptors, exerting anti- nausea effects at both the brain and gut level.

4. It also contains an enzyme called zingibain that may assist in protein digestion.

5. On animal research, studies have shown that ginger might help to control high blood pressure.

Consumption of anything in high dose is harmful always. High dose of ginger may cause burning sensation and indigestion, diarrhea etc.
